Rondevlei to Wilderness on 11 Nov 2019

My clients, a couple from the United Kingdom, phoned the afternoon before the trip, to request a morning trip for Monday the 11th November.

They had only 2 days left of their visit to South Africa and stayed at a venue near my home base.

I met them at 8AM after I had a quick look at some of the spots where I intended to take them.

Gusty winds through the Garden Route area made the last 7 or more days very unpleasant in terms of birdwatching. However, this morning seemed a bit better and we listed birds such as Fork-tailed Drongo, Egytian Goose, Glossy Ibis, African Spoonbill, Black-winged Stilt, Grey-Heron, Purple, Heron,  Hadeda Ibis, Southern Fiscal, Blacksmith Lapwing, Neddicky, Red-eyed Dove, Speckled Pigeon, Helmeted Guineafowl, Pied Crow, Klaas’s Cuckoo, Pied Kingfisher,  Cape Wagtail, Fiscal Flycatcher, Common Starling, Jackal Buzzard, African Oystercatcher, Kelp Gull, Red-billed Teal, Little Egret, Yellow-billed Duck, Sombre Greenbull, Brimstone Canary, Greater Flamingo, African Sacred Ibis, Reed Cormorant, White-breasted Cormorant, African Darter, Common Moorhen, Red-knobbed Coot, Little Grebe, Black-necked Grebe, Cape Canary, Cape Longclaw, Pin-tailed Whydah, Yellow Bishop, Cape Weaver, Greater Double-collared Sunbird, Amethyst Sunbird, Cape Robin-Chat, Chorister Robin-Chat, Karoo Prinia, Zitting Cisticola, Forest Buzzard,  Levaillants Cisticola, Cape White-eye, Southern BouBou, Little Rush Warbler, Cape Bulbul, Black Sawing, White-throated Swallow, Barn Swallow, Cape Crow, White-necked Raven, Cape Batis, Olive Bushshrike, African Paradise Flycatcher, Black-headed Heron, African Fish Eagle, Laughing dove, Cape Turtle Dove, Knysna Turaco, Knysna Warbler, African Emerald Cuckoo, Red-chested Cuckoo, Black Cuckoo, Speckled Mousebird, Malachite Kingfisher, White-throated Swallow, Olive Woodpecker, Red-necked Spurfowl, White-necked Raven, Black-headed Oriole, Plain-backed Pipit, African Stonechat, Bar-throated Apalis.
