If we tour in September to October we will be able to see the Jacaranda trees in bloom which is why the city is known as the Jacaranda City. Church Street is the longest straight street in the world.
I’ll show you the Old Government Buildings, Church Square, Palace of Justice, Capitol Theatre Museum, The Old Post Office, The First Bank, The Police Museum, The Pretoria Technical College, Lion Bridge, the Staats Model School (from where Sir Winston Churchill escaped when a prisoner in the Boer War) and the Old Synagogue where Nelson Mandela’s trial took place.
Church Square has several of the oldest buildings in Pretoria, as well as the statue of Paul Kruger in the centre. Just off the Church Square are other points of interest like the Police Museum, the Lion Bridge over the Apies River (the first bridge in Pretoria), and the Old Synagogue which was the building used for the first trial of former President Nelson Mandela. It was used for security reasons and is sadly neglected today, although a site of historical value.
