With the Darter Tour we will visit a Nature Reserve near Pretoria with different habitats where bushveld and water birds can be seen.
We meet you at your accommodation or at the point where the birding tour starts from where we travel with our vehicle.
This tour will take two to three hours and you can expect to see or hear some of the following species:
Fork-tailed Drongo, Coqui Francolin, Natal Spurfowl, Swainson’s Spurfowl, Rufous-naped Lark, White-winged Tern, Greater Honeyguide, Acacia Pied Barbet, Black Cuckooshrike, Sabota Lark, Karoo Thrush, White-throated Robin-chat, Chestnut-vented Tit-babler, Burnt-necked Eremomela, Black-chested Prinia, Fiscal Flycatcher, Crimson-breasted Shrike, Southern Boubou, Cape Glossy Starling, Cape White-eye, Streaky-headed Seedeater, White-winged Widowbird, Grey-headed Gull, African Fish Eagle. African Nightjar may be heard calling at dawn.
In summer:
Red-chested Cuckoo, Black Cuckoo, Red-backed Shrike, Spotted-Flycatcher, Woodland Kingfisher and Willow Warbler. African Nightjar may be heard calling at dawn.
Other wild animals that may be seen during the Darter Tour are: Kudu, Impala, Waterbuck, Zebra, Warthog, Jackal, Banded Mongoose.
